Why our hostel?
Central Backpackers Oxford has proudly been rated the best hostel in Oxford for almost 20 years.
We create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere to make your stay as personal and memorable as possible. Enjoy free unlimited WiFi, complimentary tea and coffee, and free luggage storage. Our facilities include a TV lounge, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, and a rooftop terrace.
Travelers from all over the world are welcome—there’s something here for everyone!
Can I cancel my
reservation?
We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for cancellations (by midnight GMT, 2 days before arrival).
If you cancel after this time, or don’t show up, the full amount of your reservation will be charged.

Why is a credit or debit card required to book?
To confirm your reservation at Central Backpackers Oxford, a valid credit or debit card is required. Payment will be processed 48 hours before your arrival.
When can I check-in?
We’re open from 7 AM to 11 PM, and check-in is available between 3 PM and 11 PM.
Arriving early? No worries—help yourself to our free tea and coffee or hang out in our common areas, like the TV room or our cozy terrace, while you wait.
Can I store my luggage?
We offer luggage storage daily from 7 AM to 11 PM. You’re welcome to drop your bags off before check-in or after check-out.
Not staying with us? No problem! You can still store your bags for a small fee, no reservation needed.
Where can I park my vehicle?
We do not offer on-site parking. The nearest option is Worcester Street Car Park, but for the most affordable choice, we recommend Seacourt Park & Ride. There are four in total in the Oxford area to choose from.
Do we offer bike storage?
We do not provide bike storage. The Oxford train station is a nearby option for bike parking. We recommend using strong locks if you choose this option.
Late check-in?
Our team is here to help from 7 AM to 11 PM. Please aim to arrive during these hours, as there won’t be staff available outside of this time.

What do I need to Check-in?
All guests must provide proof of identity with a valid ID, passport, or driver’s license. Additionally, if you booked through a third-party website, we will need a credit or debit card on file for incidentals.
When do I pay for my stay?
All reservations made through our website will now be charged 48 hours prior to arrival at the property. Reservations made on third party websites such as booking.com or hostelworld will have varying payments methods, please check the terms on the third party website.
I am under 18, can I stay?
All underage guests must be accompanied by an adult and stay in a private dorm. Please reach out to us prior to your arrival to arrange this.
Taxes / Fees
All prices include taxes. Please note that fees may apply if the terms and conditions of your stay are not adhered to.
Mobility / Access
Please be aware that our building is over 100 years old and does not have an elevator.
For guests with mobility concerns, there are 44 steps from the ground floor to the accommodation level. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the hostel in advance.
